Here it is, the holiday season once again. It is hard to believe that just over one-year ago I was coming home from the hospital with my new bundle of joy. A little 6 lb 5 oz baby boy who instantly became the light of my life. It was like a story book ending...mom and baby both home, safe and sound, drifting off to sleep while snuggling together on the couch, dad looking on, so proud of his new family...
Fast forward to modern day. My son Gavin, who is now just over 1-year, rises like a rooster at 5:30 a.m. I roll out of bed for the day that lies ahead. I am looking forward to the highlight of our mornings - Stroller Strides. It is what Gavin and I have done for nearly 6 months. And we love it just as much today as we did then.
Since gaining my certification to teach Stroller Strides classes, I have continued to learn so much in the areas of pre and postnatal fitness. So much that I did not know, even when I was pregnant myself. So much that I wish every mom instinctively knew the second they found out they were pregnant...
Exercise really does make a difference in your life. In the past year, I have gone from overweight and insecure to a positive, healthy and confident role-model for my son. It is so true what they say - that actions speak louder than words.
I now know that when my son sees me working out with other moms every morning, singing him silly songs and acting goofy just to make him (and the other babies in class) smile, he sees an activity that he will grow up enjoying. He is learning that happiness and healthiness really do go hand-in-hand.
My heart bursts at the seams when one of the toddlers in our classes will mimic our exercises - and think its fun! It doesn't get any better than that.
So, from one mom to the next, please remember that a healthy mom makes a healthy and happy family!
I wish you all a very happy holiday season! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

A new beginning
Hello,
This is my first blog...so I'll start with a little bit of background info.
My name is Ami...I am a wife, mother and career woman. My son, Gavin, is 11 months old. Once he arrived, my perspective on life changed drastically.
Since my son was born, I've taken on an entirely new role. I started my own business in Houston: Stroller Strides...I absolutly love it!
Stroller Strides is a unique program that allows mothers to work out with their babies...while meeting other moms and having a great time!
Since I began Stroller Strides, I have noticed the quality of my life change dramatically. I now wake up every morning with a mission to help other moms, who like myself, can become isolated. Through Stroller Strides I have made many wonderul, fellow-mom, friends while making a positive impact within my community. What a great feeling!
I am now here to offer support (and recieve it at times) to new and veteran moms, whether in fitness, health or life. Ask a question...and I'll do my best to aswer. Show up sad...and I'll do my best to help you smile!
